Message from the Principal
Ms. Sarah Philipps
BA Hons (Warwick), PGCE (Bath)
Receiving my copy of the Senior “Internat” magazine always brings a smile to my face.
First, I enjoy flicking through and looking at the vibrant pictures which instantly bring back
memories of an academic year filled with activity. Then I take a little more time to read the
articles and student contributions and reflect on the talents of our students which extend
from academics to a host of extra-curricular pursuits. It is astounding to see how much can
be achieved in a single school year.
In recent years, the Magazine Committee have established a tradition of incorporating a
little known word into the theme for their publication. This year is no exception and the
word chosen is 'Orenda' which means: an innate and sometimes mystical power present in
all humans which, once evoked, enables them to consciously affect change in their lives
and the world around them. This Iroquis word encapsulates the spirit that we should all try
to possess in order to positively impact upon those around us for the betterment of all. I
hope that, while reading this magazine, you will both enjoy reflecting on the academic year
gone by and be inspired to embrace your orenda and contribute to the creation of a
brighter future.
I would like to extend my thanks to the Teachers in Charge of the magazine, Menaka
Rajapakse and Tivani Fernandopulle, and the Magazine Committee, expertly led by Amirah
Musadique, for producing such a fine publication.
I hope that you will all enjoy this year’s outstanding publication.
