The Sunken Secret
Waves of cyan blue rolled calmly on to the seashell scattered shore;
retracting and extending its shimmery waters at steady tread, creating
mother of pearl puddles and lacy patterns across the white sand of the
beach. Cacophonous seagulls creating an orchestra of sound, left their
nests to fly to the never ending horizon ,as coconut trees swayed to the
tune of the wind.
Deep under the glassy surface of the sea, schools of sequined fish
cruised through the calm waters looping around, over colossal rocks.
Hues of emerald, turquoise, and olive green seaweed embedded the sea
floor amidst countless gardens of delicate sea flowers. Coral reefs
mapped the ocean , constructing a monumental empire for the sea
dwelling creatures to roam. Spindly seahorses floated within the
confines of their marine kingdom; crabs scuttled the sandy floor and
sea urchins attached themselves safely to their beautiful home.
Secretly hidden behind the drapes of a seaweed curtain, tucked away
sleeping, soundly for centuries: lay the crown of the ocean. Discovered
in a cave lit by the radiance of glowing jellyfish, encrusted with prism like
barnacles, rested the skeleton of the once great Santa Maria. Her fine
sails now in tatters and timber stripped of her long bleached deck. Her
mast toppled starboard and crow’s nest in vanishment. Below the deck,
the captain's quarters were now home to a giant squid and the crew's
cabin now occupied by families of crabs, starfish and a sea cucumber or
two.
