IT society is a vital society in Colombo International School where you learn, use and
share knowledge in many computer-oriented activities such as coding, web designing,
robotics, etc. One may ask, ”What is inside my computer? How does it work” Well at IT
society we explore this and delve into the world’s greatest computing mysteries. We also
have some great achievers like Najaaz Nabhan of Year 12 got a merit prize in YCS 2020,
which is a National Competition and the efforts of other CIS students were expressed
there. The ICT society development team 2021/2022 which is comprised of Chenuka
Garusinghe, Najaz Nabhan and Dulakshan Perera has developed two web applications for
the use of the whole school where one work as an electronic resources library and other
one is a Virtual Museum.

The Maths Olympiad Society, although many may consider it for math geeks, is
where students from grade 7 to grade 13 gather and develop their logical and
problem-solving skills. Every Wednesday, our members do not only solve problems
involving numbers, but also fun puzzles that require common sense and
unconventional perspectives. Over time, you will naturally be able to gain new
mathematical skills and knowledge, applying it in your day to day lives. We also
encourage our members to take part in global Olympiad competitions, including
SLMC (Sri Lankan Mathematic Competition) that took place in April 2022.
Regardless of the final results, we appreciate all the hard work, dedication and
enthusiasm of the members who took part in it. Finally, we would like to thank our
teacher-in-charge, Mr. Sujit, for the unconditional support provided for the society.

The CIS orchestra is a place where anyone with a passion for music can participate in various
events to explore different genres of music and showcase their talents and skills on stage. The
first event we took part in this year was the Christmas Assembly. At the Musical Evening,
members of the orchestra, individually and as an ensemble, played nostalgic hits of the past.
Some members also took part in the Sixth Form Basketball Match to provide live music which
livened the grand entrance of the players. Putting together a broad range of classical and
modern instruments, our practices have always been full of fun. We always await each practice
with much anticipation and are eager to learn new musical scores. We would like to express
our deep gratitude to Ms. Kisholi Mathiaparanam and Mrs. Wahab for their guidance, hard
work and commitment.
