“I took a deep breath and said sternly, “Who are you?”
She moved her crimson lips and said “Hel”
I was confused. “Pardon me, but did you say Hell?”
She replied with a sigh. “No, Hel as in H-E-L” spelling it out, emphasising each letter as
if she were speaking to a child. I was offended but did not dare retaliate.
“I have never heard of you, Lord Hades never mentioned you.” I said as a matter of
fact.
She laughed, and it was not quite how I imagined it to be, it felt like an old woman
cackling but in an intimidating way. It echoed and completely drowned the boom of
the thunder.
“ Oh, you silly mortals, your minds only expand so much. Anyway, I have visited your
humble abode, to collect your soul as it belong to me not to that pathetic child,
Thanatos.”
As soon as those words escaped her mouth, thud! The door broke open and the dust
accumulated over the years had finally escaped and acted as a smoke screen. A tall,
bulky man stepped out of the debris, his black shirt hugging his muscular body. His
face just as I had seen it a decade ago. Defined cheekbones, captivating, steel blue
eyes, long black hair flowed down his body, his enormous black wings conquered the
room, he defined the word perfect. He opened his mouth and spoke with his
honeydew voice that was alluring enough to captivate even the heart of a siren.
“Pathetic child!” His voice boomed, choking with anger.
“Stop over-reacting, I was simply stating facts.” She replied with slight tone of not
anger but with irritation.
I thought of just how powerful this person is to disgrace such a formidable god. I
figured that they were old acquaintances ad that this conversation is not going to
come to an end any time soon. I might as well use this precious time to escape. I
slowly started to slip away and Hel glared at me but this time with her head turned to
me and away from the window. At that moment, I thought of dropping dead right
there and was immediately regretting calling her beautiful as her other half was
horrid. His pale, soft skin had transformed into a slimy, greasy scale like texture. It
reminded me of snake skin. Her cheeks were hollow, her eyes were rotting as if she
had poured acid. Her other half was so hideous that I might as well exsanguinate. She
gave off an aposematic hue that warned people to retreat. Even Thanatos flinched.
