Time
I lay relaxed on my bench in front of a wide glass display snuggling my favourite faux fur
blanket, as I rocked back and forth, while gazing at the sapphire night sky. My home stood a
few inches before a cliff which set off the soaring high snow-covered mountains and the
picturesque forest perfectly. The coniferous trees swayed rhythmically from side to side
and the birds danced and chirped with joy. Looking down over the cliff always sent shivers
down my spine but its beauty was breathtaking. Adjacent to my house was a unique looking
pond which didn’t reflect any colours or light from the remarkable night sky. It was more of
a void of nothingness. Droplets of snow drizzled from the sky distorting my trance while my
head shook gently causing the curls of my auburn hair to bounce elegantly.
I gazed at my house and examined its perfection. The house was neatly decorated with fairy
lights traced along the edges of the roof along with small Santa Claus stickers plastered
onto the windows. My home was modern and suited my style; it was a one-storey building
containing one bedroom and a living room, coated with a nice layer of black interior. The
living room was quite large with just a few couches and a television set. My room was small
but the enormous glass display window gave the room a luxury atmosphere. My home was
stunning and perfect and nothing could ever change that. But in order to keep the Christmas
atmosphere, there in the corner of the living room, hoisted a small Christmas tree topped
off with a bright star chandelier.
I ventured into the front porch, my blanket dragging along behind me rubbing against the
chilly snow. I let my eyes close and crawled into the bed of snow as my huddled body sank
into it. I carefully observed the Aurora’s flourish past the ozone, leaving behind shrilling
echoes, resonating in the night sky.
The echoes of the chilly breeze were all I could hear while the fresh icy, cold air sent prickles
up my nostrils. The Auroras continued radiating across the sky in all hues of emerald and
indigo. Its rays would intersect and depart, moving its ribbon like rays back and forth like a
breathing galaxy. The bright colours penetrated my eyes but it was impossible to snatch my
gaze from this paradise. I rested my face on the puffy cheeks of the snow whilst I reached
out to grab the stars. The everlasting happiness consumed me and made my slow pacing
heart, beat race with a sudden boost of adrenaline, stretching a bright thin smile across my
rosy cheeks. I crawled back out of my hiding spot, threw away my snugly blanket and
chuckled wildly, flinging bits of snow everywhere in jubilance as I made snow angels on the
glittering sheet of white. Satisfied with my final product, I noticed that it looked like a
shadow of an angel who descended from heaven; which was from an old fairy tale I once
read when I was a little girl.
