Music Through the Decades

One of the most anticipated events of the year is the Musical Evening. Every
year, students and teachers come together to create a magical, mystical,
musical night and this year was no different.
Each year, the musical evening has a different theme. This year’s theme was
music from the70s, 80s and 90s and boy, did the performances deliver!
Zainab Caderbhoy kicked off the night’s performance by presenting us with a
hypnotising version of Stevie Wonder’s Superstition. Sonakshi Gulamhusein
sang an angelic recreation of Iris by Goo Goo Dolls. A heavy dash of
nostalgia coloured the air as Radeesa Vithana played the theme from Jurassic
Park, taking us back to the simpler times when the movie was released.
Jemima Mutalip and Suri Nanayakara’s melodic voices brought Roxette’s
Listen to Your Heart to life. Nafisa Latiff empowered us through her version of
Mariah Carey’s Hero. Amanda Nois and Saranya Fernando brought back our
childhoods with their Disney Medley. Kurthya Ratnayake had us all nodding
along to Tina Turner’s Simply the Best.
Listening to Navik Weerawardana singing Bring Him Home, raised
goosebumps and made us teary eyed. Akasha Abeyrathne sang a soft and
soothing Angel by Sarah Mclachlen. Arousing performance of Oh What a Night
    was given by the orchestra.
Dilenya Ellawala and Taalya Ramanayake had us bobbing along to Ironic.
Sihas Abeywickrama enchanted us with a mashup of Fast Car and Wonderwall.
